This Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis test looks at the last 3 months of your mineral and heavy metal levels. It provides a look at cellular detox capability, hormones, stress, sleep, gut health, toxic exposure, minerals and vitamins, and heavy metals.

HTMA SAMPLE COLLECTION PROCESS

PRIOR TO COLLECTION:
1. Hair should be free of dye (3-8 weeks after your most recent dye), bleach and/ or hair products (shampoo only)
2. If you have recently dyed your hair, please wait a minimum of 3 weeks (8 weeks is better) before collection
3. If you use Head and Shoulders, Selsun Blue or any other anti-dandruff shampoo please discontinue for 2 weeks prior to collection and note this on your submission form. If it is impossible to temporary stop, please make sure to indicate use on submission form
4. Please avoid the use of public pools for at least one week prior to collection
5. If a client showers in softened water or hard water, this can affect mineral levels. Please have your client wash their hair for 2 weeks with distilled water prior to collection. This will help you get the most accurate result. OR notify me if you suspect you have hard/soft water so I can take this into consideration when interpreting your test results.


COLLECTION:
1. Collect hair sample at least 6 hours after washing it
2. Scalp hair should be used whenever possible
3. Armpit hair, beard hair and pubic hair can be used when scalp hair is not available but the results will be more difficult to interpret due to the speed at which body hair grows compared to hair on top of the head
4. Hair needs to be taken from 3-4 locations at the base of the skull
5. Hair must be cut as close to the scalp as possible
6. Use the scale that was provided to you in your collection kit
7. Fold edges of scale to create a teeter-totter
8. Once hair has been cut from the scalp, cut off the long ends (further away from the scalp) so that the total length of hair sample is 1.5 inches
9. Add hair to high side of scale
10. Continue to add hair to scale until scale tips like a teeter-totter
11. This means you have collected enough hair
12. Add hair into small white envelope and make sure to put your name and shampoo type on the envelope
13. Fill out the submission form. Check the “Add Boron” box at the top of the submission form.
14. Insert submission form plus small white envelope with hair sample into pre-stamped TEI envelope.
15. Go to the post office (within 5 days of obtaining hair sample) and purchase tracking. This will avoid lengthy process of standard mail and the possibility of your sample getting lost in the mail (which does happen).
16. Make sure to put your tracking somewhere where you won’t lose it
17. Once your sample arrives as the lab, processing times are 5-12 business days
18. Remember - weekends and USA holidays do not count as business days
19. Your practitioner will receive your results and contact you when it is time to review them.
