Agreement & Waiver

Thank you for choosing 20/20 Horsemanship LLC to educate you on your equestrian journey! We are excited to work with you! Please take a moment to give us your information and complete our rider release form and training agreement.

The Client and 20/20 Horsemanship agree as follows:

The Services

20/20 will provide client with 1 private or semi private (2-3) lesson weekly= 4 lessons in 4 weeks.
20/20 will provide the lesson horse, saddle, bridle, and all equipment for the horse.
20/20 will provide riding & horsemanship instruction.
The barn may have to cancel a lesson. Unforeseen circumstances happen at horse farms.
When the rider is ready, students will be automatically grouped together with a rider of similar ability and age, into groups of no more than 3. This small group environment is paramount to our barn culture and philosophy of creating a community that encourages camaraderie, friendship and support. We feel this leads to higher quality riding lessons, and more fun! The rate you have been offered is the semi private rate.
20/20 Horsemanship will be closed 4 weeks per year to give the lesson horses a vacation, attend clinics and to give riding instructors much needed rest. In an effort to continue providing the high level of service you are accustomed to, and beyond, instructors need to be well rested, fresh, and in their best frame of mind. This cannot happen working 7 days per week 365 a year. These weeks will be spread over each quarter. You will be notified in advance which weeks the barn will be closed. This will not cause any change to your subscription, and there will be no makeups available for this time. We thank you in advance for understanding. We strive to bring you current and safe instruction on well mannered school horses at reasonable rates. It is extremely costly to keep the business running. Horses and their expenses don’t go away when the weather is bad or someone is sick or on vacation.
NEW IN 2024! We are now offering, as part of your current subscription, the following additional opportunities!

Twice per month we will be holding unmounted horsemanship classes. We will cover everything from anatomy, biomechanics of horse and of rider, rider fitness, explaining tack, analysis of rider position, instructional videos, how to fit a saddle and so much more! Keep an eye out for the dates and topic!
Once per month we will be hosting a workshop or clinic. This is also included in your current membership! Clinics could be anything from saddle fitting, conditioning of horse, open q and a, demonstrations, perfecting a technique and so much more! Many of these clinics wouldn’t be suitable for a beginner small child, you will be notified of topic and audience prior to event. You are welcome to bring a friend with you! We provide snacks and drinks and enjoy conversation afterwards.
We offer a 15 min rider assessment phone call, or email/text. Often there is not time to discuss progress or ask questions at your lesson. This is a good time to do that.

CLIENT REQUIREMENTS
Client agrees to show up on time to the best of their ability. Client understands that their lesson ends at the designated time. Lessons are one hour. This means the lesson begins at the start time, for one hour. Lessons are not one hour of riding time. If your mount is groomed and tacked up, your ride time will be roughly 40 minutes. You are expected to remove his tack, and groom the horse prior to putting back into stall. If the horse is sweaty you must cool him out properly, i.e., hosing, bathing, sponging, hand walking, etc…There is much to be learned about grooming and tacking up, along with behavior and body language. Hence, it is part of the lesson. When the student is advanced enough the student may come 20 minutes early to prepare for their lesson, allowing them more ride time. MUST have prior approval.

Client also understands that due to circumstances sometimes the lesson will require extra time at the end or beginning of the lesson to care for the horse. This does not mean that the lesson length will be extended if Loretta’s help is needed.
Client must be wearing proper riding attire. Boots with a heel and riding tights or breeches. 20/20 can provide a helmet for your first few lessons. A neat polo shirt tucked in with a belt is ideal. Students may wear half chaps. Tall boots aren’t recommended for children or new riders of any age.
Client must be coachable, positive, and have a good attitude!
Client is expected to engage in some form of study and exercise when not at the barn. Riding correctly requires a certain level of fitness. After all riders are athletes, as are the horses.
Client agrees to abide by barn rules. They are posted on the wall at Astro’s stall. Included are: SWEEPING UP THE AISLE WHERE YOU GROOMED YOUR HORSE AND PUTTING TACK AWAY.

3. Compensation and Payment

Client will put a credit or debit card on file, through Stripe. It will automatically charge your tuition, beginning on the first day of enrollment and continuing every 4 weeks. This ensures your time is reserved for you.

4. Scheduling

Client will receive a dedicated time and day of the week for their lesson.
If client cannot make their scheduled time 20/20 will allow Client to reschedule the lesson, if 24 hours notice of the change was given. This lesson will be taken within the quarter in which it was missed. Ex., if you miss a lesson on Feb. 20, you must take your makeup by March 31.
Several make up classes are available each week. More on make ups below.
Monthly tuition is still due in full when client misses their lesson. In the event that the weather prevents riding, unmounted horsemanship instruction will be substituted. Weather can be: rain, sleet, snow, wind and even HEAT. When we cannot go outside, we do horsemanship in the barn. If weather prevents riding, but we can go outside, we do ground work with a horse. In other words, lessons continue no matter what the weather is. If you feel it is unsafe to drive to the barn, contact Loretta at 703-973-0780. You will be contacted if WE feel it is unsafe. The best way to get the most value out of the program is to make it a priority and a commitment not to miss your dedicated lesson time(s).
Client understands that tuition is non refundable.
Client agrees to give 20/20 24 hours or more notice when the need to cancel/reschedule a lesson occurs. Client understands that if 24 hours notice is not given, the lesson is forfeited, no makeup is given and payment is applied. This includes same day cancellations for any reason. If the client sends a text or email after normal working hours, it will be considered, for purpose of this agreement and cancellation policies, to have arrived the following morning. Please make sure you hear from me confirming your absence. If you have not heard from me, please reach out again, since it’s likely I did not receive your notice. You must hear from me to know your lesson is canceled. (Unless you cancel the lesson in Acuity.)
If the Client does not attend the lesson and did not call, text or email to cancel, full payment is applied and the lesson is forfeited.
If a scheduled make up lesson is not attended, FOR ANY REASON, the lesson is forfeited. We do not offer makeups for makeups.
For extended absences please speak with Loretta.
PLEASE NOTE: You need to be able to RESCHEDULE missed lessons. That means you find a time on the schedule-other than your regular date and time-and schedule a makeup class. A makeup class may be held with another student, and/or it may be unmounted. It is up to you to fit your make up sessions into our schedule, not vice versa. WE CANNOT GUARANTEE ANY CANCELED LESSON WILL RECEIVE A MAKEUP DATE. We offer make ups weekly. We cannot promise there will be one that fits your schedule. It is not up to 20/20 Horsemanship to provide the client with a date/time that fits their schedule.
If a client cancels their membership and has make up lessons to take, they are forfeited upon cancelation of the account. ONLY paying clients receive make up lessons. Please be wary of this BEFORE canceling your subscription. ASK if you have questions.

5. Cancellation.

This agreement may be cancelled by either party with at least 14 days notice prior to the desired date of termination. In order for client to cancel the payment- please text or leave a voicemail at 703-973-0780.Unscheduled or untaken lessons remaining in account must be taken before canceling payment or they are forfeited.

6. Additional Services

All services outside the scope of this agreement that are requested by the client and which the company agrees to perform will be automatically charged to the credit/debit card on file at the time of service.

7. No Guarantee

The company does not warrant or guarantee any specific level of performance or results. The results of your riding program are largely based on the efforts and attendance of the student.

8. Communications

Client agrees to communicate all scheduling changes or any other concerns about the program either through the barn telephone at 703-973-0780 via call or text, or email to:

If a lesson is canceled and you do not hear back from us, do not assume we saw your note. Please resend.

9. Release of Liability. I acknowledge the risks and potential for risks of horseback riding and activities in and around a facility where horses are kept and farm machinery operated. However, I feel that the possible benefits to me/my son/my daughter/my ward are greater than the risk assumed. Intending legally to bind myself, my heirs, and assigns, executors or administrators, I hereby waive and release forever all claims for loss or damages of any kind against Loretta and Peter Arey and 20/20 Horsemanship for any and all injuries and losses that I/my son/my daughter/my ward may sustain while participating. This release includes without limitation the risk of negligent instruction and supervision. I engage in activities at 17479 Dry Mill Rd, Leesburg, VA voluntarily with knowledge of the risks and I assume all risks of injury, death, and property damage that may result. I agree to bear any loss myself. I acknowledge that Loretta and Peter Arey are materially relying on this waiver and assumption of risk in allowing me/my son/my daughter/my ward to participate in activities at 17479 Dry Mill Rd., Leesburg, VA, owned by Krishna Lam.
