MAP Terms and Conditions

1. REGISTRATION / ENROLMENT & FEES

1.1 Enrolling in a MAP class secures the booking be it casual, a package or membership.

1.2 Fees will be on a pro rata basis only under the following circumstances and will be by invoice.

1.2.1 A student starts part way through a term.
1.2.2 A injury prohibits continuing.

1.5 Our timetable is subject to change at any time. Public holidays are generally observed unless otherwise discussed. MAP Kids Classes run during term time and coincide with the New Zealand primary school term which generally consists of around ten weeks. Our term fees are based on a ten week term. No extra fee will be charged in the event that a term is longer (up to and including eleven weeks).

1.6 Fees: MAP fees are subject to change at any time and are reviewed annually. At least 2 months’ notice will be given prior to any fee change. Fees include GST.

1.7 Refunds: For Creative Kids classes, Parents / Guardians are responsible for attendance. No refunds will be given for missed sessions. Early withdrawal from classes during the term may be considered, subject to written notification from the guardian of the child, only at the discretion of MAP. No discount or make up lesson will be offered in the case of a student missing a class. In the case of a teacher being unwell or unable to teach a class, every effort will be made to find a replacement. If no replacement can be found, a make-up lesson will be offered where possible. If neither of these options is possible, a credit towards the following term for that missed class will be offered.

2.HEALTH & SAFETY

Please read our Health & Safety Guidelines carefully. We’re happy to answer any questions so if something is unclear, please get in touch.

Our Safety Guidelines exist to advance the education & training of people in the knowledge, practice and appreciation of contemporary dance and choreography.

Our promise to you:

1. We’ll provide a safe, professional and supportive environment to engage with contemporary dance practices. MAP is committed to ensuring the organisation and associated activities are safe and inclusive for all. MAP welcomes people regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation or preference, socioeconomic background, and physical ability. No form of discrimination, harassment or bullying will be accepted by those representing MAP or those participating in MAP activities.
2. We’ll encourage you to develop your choreographic, partnering and technical skills.
3. We’ll ensure that all classes are prepared in advance and designed for the specific individuals or groups.
4. We’ll value participants, including you, equally regardless of age, gender, race or religion.
5. We will not tolerate any form of discrimination, bullying, or harassment.
6. We’ll challenge you and to encourage you to express yourself.
7. We’ll try our hardest to respond to any questions or concerns.

Our expectations of you:

1. You’ll play an active part in supporting our safety practices including reading and completing information on the following page before attending your first session.
2. You’ll behave in a controlled and respectful manner in all classes and workshops.
3. You’ll support others in their learning and development.
4. You’ll respect your teacher and any reasonable advice given by senior staff.
5. You’ll be willing to work as part of a collective team.
6. You’ll arrive with appropriate clothing and remove any jewellery

. With that in mind, we’ve got a few important considerations for your dance training:

• Stay hydrated and eat well.
• Be conscious of your own personal cleanliness & hygiene.
• Come with, and maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Identify risks and care for your fellow dancers during negative experiences.
• Communicate your feelings and ideas about your training.
• Report any serious incidents, accidents, or near-misses to staff immediately.

Movement Art Practice Participation Agreement:

MAP cares deeply about the well being of its enrolled students and endeavours to provide a safe, fun and supportive environment. Health & Safety is a joint responsibility and listed below are of points that you acknowledge by signing this form and by attending any event run and/or organised by the Movement Art Practice Trust.

1. I recognise that MAP provides dance training for my benefit and that participation in activities at MAP are a conscious choice.
2. I understand that, to the best of their ability, MAP staff will provide a safe and trustworthy environment to train in dance, but cannot observe all students simultaneously. Therefore, I agree to assist MAP staff in halting and reporting potentially unsafe behaviour to ensure the safety of myself, my fellow dancers, and anyone else near the activity.
3. I’m aware that dance training involves a balance between safety and danger. While MAP holds health and safety paramount, and will take all steps to prevent injury or dangerous situations, I must also assume and accept personal responsibility for safely participating in the class.
4. To that end, when booking, please fill out the intake form to notify us of any current or recurring injuries you are managing.
5. I am aware that while dance training is fun, it can also be very challenging and there are certain risks that cannot be eliminated such as, but not limited to:
   1. Exposure to bruises, burns, and overall discomfort.
6. I also recognise there are potentially more serious risks, including, but not limited to:
   1. Sprains
   2. Fractures
   3. Paralysis
   4. Broken bones
7. Dance instruction requires that students experience reasonable hands-on contact from instructors to demonstrate correct postures, form, and technique, or to prevent an unsafe act. I understand that when engaged in dance activities I may experience reasonable contact from other students or staff. I am also expected to report any concerns around physical contact to any staff immediately.
8. Finally, by signing this form you grant MAP the right to photograph and/or video record your image, silhouette and any other reproductions of physical likeness and voice recording in events and media such as, but not limited to:
   1. Exhibitions
   2. Theatre-based productions.
   3. Televised or live media
   4. Online or Social Media

And may be used for, or incorporated into MAP-related:

1. Advertising
2. Marketing
3. Publicity
