Working with slab construction, we’ll explore contour, depth, and volume to construct a 2-sided flower vase that mimics a wheel-thrown form–at least on the face of it! Referencing some classic contours to get you started, you’ll design a profile, then join the slabs to create a mandorla-shaped base and opening. The foreshortening of the form makes this the perfect vase for a sunny windowsill.

First time throwers, with close instruction you’ll be guided through every stage of the process of forming simple shapes on the wheel. You can create as many pieces as time and good fortune allow, and keep your two favorite pieces to fire. You’ll choose a studio glaze for each piece.

Bring a friend or date and give the wheel a try! Perfect for first time throwers, you’ll receive close instruction guiding you through every stage of the process of wheel throwing while sharing in the fun with a friend. You can create as many pieces as time and good fortune allow, and each keep your two favorite pieces to fire. You’ll choose a studio glaze for each piece.

If you know the basics of wheel throwing but want to troubleshoot an issue you’re having with the process or revisit something with close instruction, this time is for you and we will make it what you need it to be as you progress in your skills!
