In this five week workshop you will learn how to use ceramic construction techniques to construct a human head. Develop your knowledge of facial proportion as you learn to construct an expressive sculpture.

PLASTER MOULDS + CERAMIC SLIP CASTING | Term 3 2024

Discover PLASTER MOULDS + CERAMIC SLIP CASTING in a new workshop with Kate Rohde!
Over three sessions Kate will guide you through how to create plaster molds, specifically for casting ceramic items with slip.
In the first session, you'll craft a small clay sculpture suitable for molding. The next session will focus on the mold-making process, while the final session will be dedicated to slip casting. You'll test your molds, make adjustments as needed, and achieve excellent results.

The act of drawing from masterworks is a powerful tool in learning. In this class you will be presented with a different work to transcribe each week which we’ll work from together with guidance from Fran. You will learn a deeper understanding of underlying connections in the work such as geometry, rhythms, and structure will all be explored using the direct observation drawing.

PAINTING 2 is a 6 week course with artist Jennifer Whitten!

Glazing simply means to use medium to build a painting by way of layers (also known as indirect painting), as opposed to painting alla prima (also known as direct painting), which is done “all in one go”. In this course you will develop a glazed painting from the ground up, guided by the strategies we have on offer.

Watercolour is a fun and flexible medium with many contemporary applications, allowing the water-based medium to ‘take over’ and lead you into unexpected places. In this 7 week class you will learn the process of creating a watercolour painting, explore the use of the watercolour palette including which brushes, how much water and what washes to start with, as well as learning new techniques using other mediums.
