I would like to schedule...
20 minutes
If this is your first time fostering with CMHS, please use this appointment to schedule your first pickup! You will be shown the foster supply room and any questions you might have can be answered. This is a pickup REQUEST appointment so staff can ensure this animal is still good to go to foster since a lot can change in a day at the shelter!
WE ONLY SCHEDULE 2 DAYS OUT. If there are no times available check back or email foster@cmhspets.org.
10 minutes
If you have fostered already, please submit an appointment request for a time over the next two days that works for you to pick up the animal(s) of interest! This will allow staff to check to see if there are any pending veterinary checks, surgeries, meet and greets, or other pickups for this animal. Once it is confirmed your appointment time is good to go, you will receive an email approving your appointment! If for some reason this animal is no longer available for foster your request will be canceled.
5 minutes
This appointment is for if you have made a temporary return to shelter appointment for your current foster animal(s). This is NOT for new foster animals.
15 minutes
If you need help getting photos of your foster animal(s) for the website, we're here to help! We know how hard it can be for animals, especially the youngins, to sit still for a clear, cute photo. We will try out best to get a photo here at the shelter of your foster animal to put them online for adoption, or to boost their current adoption profile! Photos should only take 10-15 minutes (unless you have a especially stubborn foster..!)
10 minutes
We understand our fosters have lives, so we understand returns, whether temporary or permanent can be necessary! We ask that you try to give us a 24 hours heads-up if possible so we can make sure we have the space available and a kennel ready for them.
If you intend to return an animal permanently, please make sure to fill out a personality profile for them to help staff find a new foster or the right fitting adopter!

Surgery for foster animals are performed at Shelter Medicine Tuesday-Friday with limited space - drop off is 7:30 AM. If your foster is ADOPTION PENDING and you are needing a sooner date available, please email our surgery scheduler at cph@cmhspets.org for possible accommodations. Otherwise, please schedule your appointment below. If you are needing to drop off your foster the day before, the return link will be in your confirmation email to make arrangements to drop off prior to the morning of surgery.

Thank you for your interest in adopting from CMHS!
This is a trained staff member performing this booster, NOT with the vet staff - if you are wanting a medical concern to be looked at (sneezing, itching, etc) OR are fostering underage kittens/puppies ~6 weeks of age needing to be cleared for adoption, please instead make a VETERINARY CHECK and mark YES to boosters needed!
If you have a large litter of kittens or puppies needing boosters, please try to schedule on Sundays-Tuesdays.
30 minutes
If there are no appointment times available that you feel are soon enough, please call the shelter at 573-443-7387 x 0 to see if the vet staff feel this is something that needs to be looked at sooner rather than later and can squeeze you in that day.
30 minutes
For something that has been deemed a severe medical issue, please drop your foster off at the shelter in the morning during your appointment time. You will be contacted in the afternoon for pickup.
30 minutes
For animals having urinary issues, please drop off in the morning the day of your appointment between 9 AM and 10 PM. Cats need to be brought in a carrier without bedding, and dogs need to be on leash. Expect a call in the afternoon regarding pickup.
30 minutes
If you are needing to drop off and pick up later in the day for your appointment, please indicate what time you are dropping off and picking up.

Since CMHS is no longer testing every cat for feline leukemia (only testing cats showing symptoms or those potentially exposed), if you are a CMHS cat foster parent that has personal cats and are concerned about bringing untested foster cats home, CMHS offers FeLV vaccine for owned cats at-cost. A FeLV blood test is required prior to the vaccine to determine current status. A follow up booster is necessary to provide adequate, lasting immunity.

If you plan to do a meet and greet with a potential adopter offsite outside of business hours, such as your home, a park, or Petsmart, please schedule an "appointment" so we know when your meet and greet will be and can make sure to send the adopter the adoption checkout BEFORE the meet and greet!
If it is during business hours - no need to make an appointment. email foster@cmhspets.org beforehand with the meet and greet details.
30 minutes
Meet and greets are available at the shelter during business hours:
Sun: 12-3 PM
Mon/Thurs: 12-6 PM
Tues/Wed/Fri: 12-5 PM
If you do not see time within this range available, it means that meet and greet slot is filled. If you are unable to attend an onsite meet and greet, no problem! Just make a return appointment beforehand and make sure to discuss your foster with the applicant BEFORE since you will likely know the animal and how they do in the home the best!
