All Passenger Transport Vehicle Inspections Must Be Booked & Paid Online.

In line with the recent changes in the passenger vehicle inspections contract, Rightway has extended the online booking system for all passenger transport vehicle inspections.

Effective immediately all vehicle inspections including fleet taxis and chauffeured hire car (including limousines) vehicles must be booked and paid online by the owner of the vehicle or the driver. Set booking times will not be available unless you book them online. The diary allows for multiple bookings over a 12-month period.

The duration of a vehicle inspections is approximately 40 minutes. Drivers and/or operators are required to wait in the reception waiting area while inspections are taking place. Vehicles for inspection must not be left at the inspection station without the driver or operator present.

All Drivers/Operators Must Be Present 10 Mins Before Your Inspection Time.

We kindly ask that only the driver and/or operator of the vehicle attend the inspection centre for the inspection and/or re-inspection of a vehicle (if required).

If you are unable to attend your inspection, please cancel or reschedule your appointment 24 hours prior to your confirmed appointment time via your confirmation email. There Will Be No Refunds if you do not attend your appointment or for Late Arrivals. Late arrivals will not be accepted. If you are late to your appointment, it will be rescheduled for another suitable time, to inconvenience other drivers/operators on the day.

You will need to bring either a Valid South Australian Drivers Licence (for Owner Of Vehicle) or the Current Vehicle Registration Form from Service SA (Blue Form or Printed Copy From Ezyreg) to confirm the details of the vehicle.

To Pass Inspection

  • Vehicles being used for passenger transport (taxi, ride sourcing, chauffeur) must not be more than 8 years old in South Australia. The age of the vehicle is determined by the date of manufacturer.
  • New vehicles may be exempt from first inspection. Please contact accreditation and licencing centre to confirm eligibility before booking your inspection.
  • The outside of your car including the wheels must be clean
  • The inside of your car must be clean and free of rubbish, food and any loose items
  • Vehicles presented for inspection must be in a condition ready for use as a passenger transport vehicle at time of inspection
  • Remove any baby/child seats from the vehicle
  • Your boot/trunk space must be free to check the spare wheel
  • Ensure all tyres are in roadworthy condition
  • Check all light globes are working (indicators, headlights, number plate, brake lights and parkers)
  • Ensure your vehicle has no body damage, including dents and scratches (no hail damage)
  • Window tint must comply with DPTI standards (front windows 35%, back windows 20%)
  • Owners of hydrogen and electric-powered vehicles, including hybrids, built or modified after 1 January 2019 are legally required to display a number plate warning label. Owners of electric and hydrogen-fuelled vehicles including hybrids built prior to 1 January 2019 are also encouraged to display number plate warning labels.

Vehicles must always display the vehicle inspection label. These labels are not to be removed at any time. If your label becomes damaged, you must return to an accredited inspection station for a replacement.

Annual / Initial Vehicle Inspection Is $95.00

($85 Inc GST + $7 SA Gov Booking Fee + $3 Process Fee)

For First-Time Or Renewing Vehicle Inspections.

Vehicles Presented for Failure Re-Inspection Will Be Charged a Fee Of $37.00

For All Vehicles That Have Failed Annual / Initial Inspection Within the Last 90 Days Including Same Day Returns.
