Cats N' Mats
What could be better than doing yoga on a Sunday morning? Doing yoga with cats at The Anti-Cruelty Society! Join us at 11 a.m the first Sunday of the month for Cats n’ Mats. We will be hosting one hour yoga sessions with the company of some adoptable kitties, they make the purrfect yoga partners!
$10 donation and pre-registration is required. 18 and over only. No previous yoga experience required. You bring the mats, we’ll bring the cats!
High Rise Dogs Workshop
1 hour 30 minutes
Join us for this unique workshop to see how to make high rise living more enjoyable for you and your canine companion. Join us and professional dog trainer and educator Judit Arroyo, CPDT-KA, and learn how you can equip your dog for success. Hear how you can build a positive training foundation for your dog. Learn how to mitigate potential issues before they become a problems. No prior experience necessary. No dogs please – this is a workshop for owners only. Landlords are welcome.
Pet First Aid & CPR
Do you plan on working with other people’s pets for a living as a dog walker, groomer, or staff member at a boarding facility? Do you have pets at home and want to be prepared in case of an emergency? We can help. This course will cover pet first aid and CPR techniques. The emphasis will be on cats and dogs, and life-sized mannequins will be used to mimic working with real animals. Please do not bring your pet to class. The course length is 4 hours, and the fee is $50. Pre-registration is required.
Kids Who Care
1 hour 30 minutes
The Anti-Cruelty Society’s Kids Who Care program offers families an opportunity to engage in our work while providing valuable education to kids and adults alike. During this on-site event families learn more about proper animal care, make a toy for an adoptable pet, read a book to a resident cat, prepare snacks for our small mammals, and decorate an adoption poster for an available pet. If you have a child between the ages of 2-10 this is a great way to make a direct impact in the life of a shelter pet.
Youth Who Care
An animal advocacy and volunteer program for youth ages 10–13 years old. This exciting opportunity will be hosted at The Anti-Cruelty Society and during the course of the program participants will learn about a variety of topics including animal behavior, training, care and other animal welfare issues. Students will be able to earn service learning hours during the course of the program.
Romp Room: Puppy Socialization
Socialization is vital to raising a pup into a confidant, friendly, easy-going dog. This session introduces pups to new people, dogs, sights, sounds and experiences in a fun and safe environments. Stations will introduce novel items and encourage problem solving, then we will wrap up with playtime.
This class is open to puppies 8-16 weeks of age. Proof of current age appropriate vaccinations is required.
Puppy Training Primer
This one session class will introduce you and your puppy to the nuts and bolts of training. We will discuss how to get the behaviors you want from your dog and then put that knowledge to use by teaching basic skills using scientifically proven methods that utilize positive reinforcement. This is a perfect class for someone who wants to get the ball rolling before beginning a full training course.
This class is open to puppies 8-24 weeks of age. Proof of current age-appropriate vaccinations is required.
