These 45-min sessions are designed with kindergarten and early first graders in mind. Literacy readiness begins with phonemic and phonological awareness. Literacy teachers individualize instruction for early readers to provide strong foundational skills such as rhyming, alliterations, letter and sound recognition, tracing, letter formation, sight-word recognition. All active TLC K-2 students will have access to online software specifical purchased to support development within and outside of tutoring.

These 45-min sessions with a K-8 certified educator in math are intended to support hands-on application numeracy and computation skills. Students will learn the discipline-specific language and be able to draw, explain, solve and write about match concepts.

Tutoring is directly related to diagnostic assessment findings, observations and analysis of work samples, and employs research and evidence-based instructional strategies and is in support of grade-level standards. Academic Coaching can span across all content areas and include executive functioning training.

Literacy Assessments that may be conducted include: KTEA-3 for Dyslexia Screening, Tests of Phonemic Awareness, Phonological Awareness, BEAR Developmental Assessment, Fountas & Pinnell Qualitative Reading Assessment, Teachers' College at Columbia Writing Qualities Assessment plus a full written report of findings. Meeting times are approximately 1-2 hours and written analysis would be written within one week of assessment.
