This 6-week course is designed to concentrate on developing a new body of work combining sculptural and wheel-thrown pieces. Surface treatments will be explored for final finishes and presentation. Tutorials will be given to instruct ways to alter clay bodies for different firing techniques, such as sawdust barrel firing, cone 10 and cone 6 firings. These firing techniques will be explored during this class.

In this 6-week class, participants will learn traditional techniques for approaching portraiture through drawing and acrylic painting as their mediums. Learning both drawing and painting skills will advance and enhance your skill quickly to capture the essence of your model by learning basics for the structure of the human head. This class is fun, relaxing, and will help you build the foundation to become an artist that can “see”.

This 6-week class will explore multiple print-making techniques such as: mono-printing, dry point, linoleum cuts, etching and how to use the printing press and much more. Students will also have an opportunity to view the multiple galleries here in the museum and see other artists that work in the print-making style. Participants will gain knowledge of historical techniques and will create their own original prints.

This 4 week class will give the opportunity for a parent and child/children to work together with the wheel throwing process. You will learn throwing fundamentals for creating functional pottery. Bowls and cylindrical forms will be explored, as well as, trimming and glaze techniques. This class is an energetic and fun way for your family to gain knowledge of this historical technique of throwing clay to make something useful.

Over a series of 6 lessons, students will be instructed on how to use their sketching skills to capture shape, shadows, and textures. With the garden theme, subjects in these lessons include seeds and pods, fungus, dragonflies, and caterpillars. Students will be using pencil and ink to draw step by step together. Hannah makes it easy to follow along, talking students through observational drawing, so they feel confident to create their own drawings by the end of the course.
