Thank you for helping us care for our animals. For medical appointments, please select the appropriate appointment at the Care Center closest to you. If you're signing up for a StrayCation or BoroughBreak please be sure to select the appopraite option below.
A StrayCation offers many benefits to the animals in our care. First, a few nights out of the shelter is amazing for the animal's mental health. Similar to our BoroughBreak program, a StrayCation further shows us how the animal acts outside of a shelter environment. Fewer animals in the Care Center for a long weekend also means the animals still at our care receive more attention from staff and volunteers.
How it works
Please disregard the 30 minute appointment window. Instead, please select at time-frame listed within the survey.
IMPORTANT: If the temperature falls below 40 degrees, Boroughbreaks will be cancelled unless you are bringing your animal indoors.
Signing up for a BoroughBreak is quick and easy! We only send out 3 dogs per day so sign up in advance! (Please only sign up for 1 spot per group/family as we ask that all dogs be kept separate)
Pick-Ups are between 10am-11am. We ask that all dogs are returned by 4pm. Location: 326 E110th Street
We will use the information you provide on your application to match you with an appropriate dog. If you don't feel comfortable with your match, please let a Foster Team member know before your outing. Depending on our population, we may not be able to match you with another dog. Due to how quickly they get adopted, small dogs are not always available to take out on a BoroughBreak.
Before taking your dog on a BoroughBreak, you’ll receive important paperwork, get a safety briefing, and go over any questions you may have. You will also be given a small pack containing items to help keep your BoroughBreak safe and fun. Please remember to take pictures and let members of the public know that your dog is available for adoption!
This is a very popular program and slots fill up incredibly quickly. If there are no dates available, it means all of our slots are full. We book two months in advance, so please keep checking for new dates or cancellations. We currently have openings in December. January dates will go up at the end of December.
This is a popular program, so if you can't make your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so we can open your slot to another participant.
