Anne C. Sutton, Clerk of District Court
Passport Acceptance Facility. Clerk of District Court Office, 180 S. King Street, 2nd Floor, Jackson, WY 83001
**Adults renewing a 10-year passport in their possession send in their DS-82 passport application (found at www.travel.state.gov ) directly to the U.S. Department of State without having to appear at an Acceptance Facility / our office**
Please see the U.S. State Department's (U.S.D.S.) website travel.state.gov for information, applications and requirements and for current U.S.D.S. target
processing times (which continue to be longer than they used to be 3+ years ago). Processing times were last adjusted October 2, 2023. We estimate up to 15 weeks for standard processing (up to 11 weeks at U.S.D.S and up to four weeks total for mailing to/from USDS (approx 2 weeks each way) and an estimated 11 weeks for expedited processing at $60 per application (up to 7 weeks at U.S.D.S. and up to four weeks total for mailing to/from USDS).
Our appointments book up quickly with next availability often 3-4 weeks out from today. Our understanding is that alternate locations within an hour and a half of our office often have appointments available in the next day or two. Appointments at the Teton County Idaho District Court (Driggs, ID) can be made by calling 208-354-8780. The Sublette County Clerk of District Court Office (Pinedale, WY) usually allows for drop in appointments but call them first to confirm at 307-367-4376.
Depending on your travel dates and appointment availability (ex: you cannot get an appointment at a nearby acceptance facility more than three months before your travel date), you may need to book an appointment for emergency/urgent travel processing at a U.S.D.S. Passport Agency within 14 days of your date of travel. Alternatively you may pay a third party hand-carry/rush my passport service provider for rushed service within 14 days of travel. Applicants may still be required to appear at an acceptance facility for application packaging by a credentialed acceptance agent before sending thru the third party service. Visit travel.state.gov and select "Get a U.S. Passport" and then "Get My Passport Fast" for details.
Passport Appointments at our office:
- All courthouse visitors will be screened by court security.
- The amount of time your appointment will take will depend on if your
application is completed in advance without required corrections, if all items and people that are required are present, and how many applications we are
processing. We reserve an hour for each appointment in case a
return trip is required for a missing item, corrections are necessary, multiple
applications are being processed, and/or application forms still need to be filled
out.
- A District Court Clerkâs office is not statutorily mandated to accept passport applications. We continue to maintain acceptance agent status as a courtesy to and convenience for the community. Appointment availability is based on available resources.
Adults in possession of a 10-year passport book or card often can renew directly by mail and do not require an appointment with our office. Please carefully read the instructions on travel.state.gov.
