MAIN POLICY

  • THE SCHEDULE OPENS MONTHLY, THE ENTIRE YEAR IS NOT BOOKED, if the calendar appears entirely blank, please text +1 (832) 909-8382
  • A $150 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your appointment slot, if you book for a Microloc hairstyle your deposit will be half the price.
    • Your deposit will ONLY be refunded if we cancel your appointment , you give 7 days notice or an error occurs on our end.
    • The deposit is included in the total balance.
  • Hair is NOT included in our services
    • If you do not show up for your appointment and the hair is already prepped for extensions an add set up, a $10 fee will be added plus shampoo services cost
    • This only applies if you cancel an appointment on your appointment day.
  • Absolutely, NO REFUNDS are given.
    • If you have any questions or concerns regarding your hair, please, bring it up before you leave the seat!
    • Any concerns must be addressed within 7 days of installation and we will do our best to fix it.

LATE COURTESY POLICY

  • If you are running late, NOTIFY US via a phone call or text message (not via social media).
    • inform us PRIOR to your appointment time with your accurate ETA. Every client is granted a 10 mins grace period.
    • If your appointment is at 2pm and at 1:50pm you realize you will be 10 mins late, please give us a heads up.
    • A simple “Hi, I have a 2pm appt but just wanted to give you a heads up that due to an accident my GPS now shows my ETA will be 2:08pm.”
  • Please, do not wait until 1:55pm to inform us you are running 10 mins late for your 2pm appt. The earlier we are aware, the better we can plan in case have other appts later that will be impacted by your tardiness.
  • After 10 minutes, you will be charged $1 per minute.
  • After 30 minutes, your appointment will be cancelled and your card will be charged HALF the cost of the service.
  • No show clients will be charged the FULL cost of the service and may not be allowed from booking with us in the future.

Do you sell the hair extensions used?

  • No, unfortunately we do not sell Rootlocs Hair at this time.

Are the extensions permanent?

  • No, unfortunately extensions last one to two years.

What sort of extensions do you use?

How can I book my appointment?

Do you travel around the US?

What types of colors do you have?

  • You will get a chance to choose the color(s) you want after booking your appointment.

How long after a consultation can you book your appointment?

  • Appointments can be scheduled at the consultation- First come, First served

What length is the hair?

  • Usually 24 inches is the longest

Do you offer services to the UK?

  • Not at this time.

How many technicians will be doing the install?

  • One but two or more can be requested (additional fee may apply)

Would I still be able to do other styles over the locs? Like wearing wigs or other protective styling?

  • I would not advise doing styles over the locs for at least a year. Styles usually cause pulling and tension. It’s not worth it. Wigs are okay so long as your hair doesn’t get too manipulated or braided down tightly.

How often can I get my reties?

  • Every 4-6weeks.

Do you accept transfer clients?

  • Yes. However, all transfer clients must go through the consultation process before they book their appointment please text +1 (832) 909-8382

Are the prices the same if your hair is shaved at the sides and back?

  • No. We will give you a price after you complete your consultation.

Do you do children's hair?

  • Absolutely. Children over 10 and they pay the same price because it’s actually more strenuous for our stylists.

How do I maintain my hair after the install?

  • Keep your hands out head, when at home keep your hair plates or braid/band to keep it from unraveling or slipping.

What if I have gray and would need to dye my roots often?

  • It just depends on how quickly your grays come back in. But we would advise you to dye it before you come in for your retie while your roots/new growth are still loose. There is a chance of slippage with frequent dying so please be cautious of that.

Is the hair included in the price consultation?

  • No. The consultation is $50. The non-refundable deposit is $150 the total and it is included in the final price.

I’ve seen pictures of the styles on Instagram. What are the differences between the regular service and the one with the micro parting option?

  • Microlocs are small sized locs that can either be installed with a two-strand twist foundation or a three-strand braid foundation. Extensions can be added to achieve more volume and length.

If you already purchased the hair, can that be used and price adjusted?

  • No. We only use our hair.

What about if your hair is 20 inches or more, do you cut them off some part?

  • Not necessarily. It just depends on the service you want to get. If your hair is that long it’s best to get Microlocs Twists or Braids (no extensions added). Price Depending on size,length and thickness

What forms of payment do you accept?

  • We accept Zelle or cash payments.

What is the policy for customer dissatisfaction?

  • We would love to encourage our clients to speak up as soon as they start feeling off about their hair. If something doesn’t look right or you’re not happy with the length, do not be afraid to let your stylist know. If after they explain themselves and you still don’t feel right about it or confident for them to continue, you can have them reach out to Gertrude in person or call so we can help remedy the situation.

If that does not work, it can be escalated to Gertrude but please do not wait until you get home to say something because it may be too late to correct it that day. If we see that we made an error that can easily be fixed, we will have you come back in or fix it immediately depending on when you complain.

We encourage our clients not to fall asleep on the seat because it’s vital for you to pay attention too to make sure we are meeting your needs.

Also, sleeping and moving your head makes it very difficult for our team to do their job and can eventually affect the straightness of your parts and negatively impact your grid. Please, get enough sleep before you come in so we can do an efficient job.

What is a grid?

  • A grid is basically a pattern system to form square parts that look pleasant and straight and this also enables us to maintain or interlock your roots when it’s time to freshen it up.

Once you see a client's hair in person, is it possible you recommend changing the type of service booked?

  • As part of the consultation and we see your hair in person, if needed, we could recommend something else for you. You always have a choice to agree or disagree.

If coloring hair, how far in advance of loc service should color be completed?

  • At least 2 weeks in advance and make sure to wash your hair at least once before you come in. For example, if you color your roots dark, if you don’t wash your hair at least once before you come in the dark dye will stick in our nails during locking and we do not like that.

Do you offer a combination of both natural hair and extensions? I would like to book in the upcoming months. But I do have a little heat damage in the front.

  • Yes, we offer a variety of services.

Are you able to work around scalp issues such as alopecia and thinning edges?

  • Absolutely. We make sure for clients with low density hair or alopecia/thinning we use less hair extensions and do not recommend micro parts. It’s better to get standard parts so there is enough of your hair to carry the weight of the added extensions. We do not want your hair to grow out dramatically thinner than the size of the locs.

How early do you start for the client appointment?

  • At 8am

Can you clarify same day appointments?

  • Basically, we do your install on the same day. Most locticians spread the work over 2 or 3 days but we get it done in one day usually.

Do you take credit cards?

  • No, we do Not.

Any advice on how far ahead to take down my current locks? I was planning to do it a few weeks before the appointment.

  • The sooner the better but whatever you do please come with completely loose hair. We do NOT offer take down services. It also depends on the size of your locs and if you have help. Always overestimate the amount of time it will take.

Do you offer chance to pay partial payment, up until appointment then remainder at service?

  • Yes, we do. Email us to request an invoice for payment plans. We can split the payments into 3-5 payments (whichever you’re most comfortable with). The due dates for all the invoices will be set for the day of your install.

Do you make home visits?

  • No, not at this time.

Do the 100% hair you provide feel more like 3c/4c or 4a hair?

  • It feels more like 4c texture hair. It’s kinky but soft and super lightweight.

During the consultation can we go over the pricing?

  • Yes, As cost Price Depending on size, length and thickness

Does the human hair included in the price of the service or does that have to be purchased separately? If so, how much hair comes in 1 bundle?

  • The hair is NOT included in the total price.

Do you work during weekends?

  • Yes, only Saturday’s are available, we are usually closed on Sundays but please call or text for Appt +1 (832) 909-8382
