WELCOME TO SPCA SELANGOR!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at our E.R.A. Centre in Ampang, Selangor. As an animal shelter, we have several safety precautions and operational procedures that all volunteers need to learn. Therefore, all first-time volunteers need to participate in our Pet Care Programme (PCP).
The PCP is an introduction to the SPCA. It is a one-time training workshop, an orientation class encompassing day-to-day volunteer work with education on responsible animal handling and shelter operations.
Once you have completed the PCP, you can freely return as many times to SPCA Selangor to volunteer again. The PCP can accommodate community service/CSR needs.
Note #1: we reserve the right to modify, cancel and limit the event with 24hrs notice. We are not responsible for any non-refundable travel or other expenses incurred by you or another as a result of your registration, attendance at, non-attendance at, or cancellation of the event.
Note #2: The PCP involves volunteering activities with our in-house animals, both the cats and dogs. For Muslim volunteers, we have prepared 'Taharah' soap for your samak/sertu washing purposes. Taharah is a clay-based soap (sabun tanah liat) approved by JAKIM for your cleansing needs. We do encourage full participation in all activities for a more enriching and educational experience.
Please be advised that volunteers below the age of 12 will require full-time guardian participation during their volunteer activities. This measure ensures the safety and well-being of all participants and allows us to provide a more effective and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
On a separate note, SPCA Selangor is an NGO non-profit that receives no government funding and relies solely on public donations. Should you wish to fund raise or donate items, we always need:
- Dog leashes
- Old newspapers and towels
- Cat litter boxes and scoops
- Cleaning equipment (mops, brooms, buckets, bleach, floor cleaners, detergent etc.)
- Frontline sprays
- Pet food (ProBalance, ProDiet, Royal Canin)
- Office stationery (pens, whiteboard/permanent markers, A4 paper etc.)
- Money donations for centre operations
