Pfizer (age 5-11) is authorized for anyone aged 5 to 11 years old. Individuals between the ages of 5 and 11 must have a parent/guardian present at the time of the appointment to receive the vaccine.
Pfizer (12+) is authorized for use in anyone aged 12 and older. Individuals between the ages of 12 and 18 must have a parent/guardian present at the time of the appointment to receive the vaccine.
Moderna is authorized for use in anyone aged 18 and older.
Johnson & Johnson (J&J Janssen) is authorized for use in anyone aged 18 and older. Women younger than 50 years old especially should be aware of the rare but increased risk of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS). TTS is a serious condition that involves blood clots with low platelets. There are other COVID-19 vaccine options available where this risk has not been seen.
Pfizer-BioNTech
2nd Dose:
- A 3-week interval remains optimal for moderately to severely immunocompromised persons – children between 5 and 11, adults 65 years and older, and others who need rapid protection.
- An 8-week interval may be optimal for some people, including males 12-39 years of age because of the small risk of myocarditis associated with mRNA COVID-19 vaccines.
- Vaccine effectiveness may also be increased with an interval longer than 3 weeks.
Additional Dose:
- CDC recommends that moderately to severely immunocompromised people receive an additional dose.
- Additional dose must be the same as the primary series and must occur at least 28 days after the last dose of Pfizer vaccine.
Booster Doses:
- 1st Booster:
- At least 5 months after completing your primary COVID-19 vaccination series
- 2nd Booster:
- People ages 12 through 17 years of age who are moderately
or severely immunocompromised may choose to receive a second booster dose
using Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine at least 4 months after the first
booster dose
- Adults ages 50 years and older who are not moderately or
severely immunocompromised may choose to receive a second booster dose
using an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna*) at least 4
months after the first booster dose.
- Teens 12-17 years old may only get a Pfizer vaccine booster
- Booster doses are not approved for children younger than 12 years
Moderna

**People ages 18 through 49 years who are not moderately or severely immunocompromised and who received Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 Vaccine as both their primary series dose and booster dose may receive a second booster dose using an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna*) at least 4 months after the first Janssen booster dose.
