1.Practice/rehearse your song as much as you can before going into the studio to record. Get your lyrics, as close to full memorization as possible even if you have to read them you want to be comfortable with your delivery, your listeners will notice. Don’t waste your time or money go in professionally minded and prepared (everybody can’t be a “one-take Jake” but you also don’t want to be “all-day Ray”)

2.Thoroughly think out the song's arrangement before going into the studio, intro/outro, how you want the hook to go, adlib placement, voice over’s, beat changes, etc. (don’t count on the producer to add flavorful ideas to make YOUR song sound better)

3.Always be prompt and on time for your studio session, treat this as a job, clock in, plus it shows consideration for the producer's time.

4.Do not bring any unnecessary people to your recording session; if they are not involved in the direct creative process of the song they should not be there, the studio is not a hangout spot, groupie gathering, or community center for non-artist.

5.Go into the studio mentally focused and emotionally ready. Some artists may take a few sips or a few hits to get themselves in a certain zone they want to get in before recording, to each his own but very wiry of the overindulgence of mind-altering substances and the sloppiness ‘and mistakes that come with it. Remember you are an artist and you want your vocals to be personable, in the pocket, well-projected, and felt by the listener. ( Not the mumbled or slurred delivery that comes with being too drunk or high)

6.No liquid of any kind should ever be anywhere near the recording equipment.

7.Always clean up after yourself; whatever you brought in with you…leave with it.

8.Never steal anything from the studio. Thank you.
