This tour explains the layout of the fort, which was as large as any on Hadrian's Wall, and the story of the XIV legion which inhabited it for a time. Partly built over by a railway cutting, what is left of the fort site is an unevenly shaped grass field with banks and ditches with many hidden stories to discover. Come and learn about the life of a typical Roman soldier.
