Dr Rob King

Where the consultations take place

I offer consultations across Australia and internationally via video consultations only (‘telehealth’).

If you have not had a recent physical examination by a doctor, we will discuss at the end of your first consultation where to have one.

For those who have gut/gastrointestinal problems

A physical examination will be part of your assessment by a gastroenterologist. This is a mandatory requirement prior to your first consultation with myself, as noted above.

The tests that will be required to improve your health

- Blood and urine tests

These will help identify a range of health and nutritional status markers. They will be selected based on your specific circumstances.

- Stool analyses

  1. Faecal metagenomic analysis

This cutting edge tool provides a detailed view of your gut microbiota. In Australia I use Microba in Brisbane or Diagnostic Solutions (based in the US). For patients in Europe, there are several good providers of metagenomic analyses.

2. Advanced faecal culture analysis

This analysis includes testing for anaerobic gut bacteria. It is also a very useful test.

For patients with more complex conditions, I often recommend combining both the metagenomic and culture analyses, as they provide different perspectives on the gut microbiota.

- Hydrogen methane breath test (HMBT)

This test is only necessary for a very small number of my patients.
