Through LiMPETS (Long Term Monitoring Program and Experiential Training for Students), students gain hands-on scientific research & data collection skills & grow a sense of agency & connection to place, which in turn nurtures their ability to be positive advocates for & stewards of their local ecosystems and communities.

Watershed Guardians is a community science field program for middle school through college students, taking them to their local watersheds (Carr Lake, Carmel River, and Salinas River) to conduct water quality testing. Students gain hands-on scientific research and data collection skills and grow a sense of agency and connection to place, which in turn nurtures their ability to be positive advocates for and stewards of their local ecosystems and communities.

Museum Educators guide students in learning about pollinators and adaptations. Depending on the time and energy of the group, students can also act out the monarch life cycle through a body movement activity.

Museum Educators guide students in learning about ecology by being broken up into 5 groups to search for 5 pictures in the garden. Each picture connects back to how a sea creature uses their environment, and how it connects to students.

Students will learn about who the Ohlone group are, where they are on the map, and discuss how they use natural resources with real-life examples.

Students examine a map of the U.S with the monarch’s migration pattern highlighted while building connections to their everyday life.

Students with their adults will participate in a body movement activity that incorporates the life cycle of trees or monarch butterflies.
