Northwest Vocal Arts

We are always looking for great singers to add to our professional roster! Please consider auditioning if you have: 1) previous choral experience in an auditioned SATB chamber choir, 2) ability to sing an art song, operatic aria, or music theater solo, 3) ability to read and perform sheet music on sight, 4) ability to blend with other singers, adjusting placement for resonance and intonation, 4) ability to collaborate with others in a professional, respectful and joyful way!

We are looking for eight dedicated high school students (grades 11-12) to serve as NWVA Choral Apprentices! Selected students will have the opportunity to sing with and be mentored by our professional choral artists AND serve as section leaders for our Youth Choir! Choral Apprentices will receive a full year of free tuition and will be paid a stipend! Minimum qualificatons: 1) member of high school concert and/or chamber choir, 2) strong choral skills, 3) grades 10-12, 4) great attitude and work ethic!

ALL students currently in grades 8-12 are encouraged to join the NWVA Youth Choir under the direction of Karen Bohart! Our youth choir is a safe, inclusive and joyful space where all students interested in furthering their choral abilities are welcome. We believe that every student deserves access to a strong music education driven by the latest trends in pedagogy and that choral music is the PERFECT way to gain that access! Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. Auditions will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church: 1624 NE Hancock, Portland, OR 97212. We will be meeting in the Chapel. If you have trouble locating the church or the room we are in, please call us at 503.804.8251.

Please sign up for a 10-minute audition with the Artistic Director and the Youth Choir Director. Be prepared to sing an art song or aria, sight-read an example from sight reading factory at a level 5 and take a tonal memory assessment. Auditions will take place from 1:30-4:30pm Sunday, Oct. 6 at David Douglas High School.
