Rocky Shore Exploration Field Trip to Delaporte Beach
Students will explore the rocky shore ecosystem at Delaporte Beach, learning about invertebrates, animal adaptations, and the abiotic and biotic features of the environment. They'll discover the biodiversity of tide pools and observe how species survive in this ever-changing habitat.

Mangrove Bonefish Pond National Park Boardwalk Dry Field Trip

This land-based field trip takes students on a scenic walk along the boardwalk at Bonefish Pond, where they will learn about the four species of mangroves in The Bahamas. Students will explore the mangrove ecosystem, its importance in coastal protection, and the vital ecosystem services it provides.

In-Class Mangrove Presentation

BREEF staff will visit classrooms to provide an informative session on mangroves in the Bahamas, teaching students about the four species of mangroves, their critical role in coastal protection, and the unique ecosystems they support. Following the presentation, students will engage in an activity to reinforce the objectives.

Blue Bahamas Presentation

This presentation introduces The Bahamas as a Big Ocean State, highlighting its vast and diverse marine ecosystems. Students will receive an overview of these critical ecosystems, their benefits to the livelihood of all Bahamians, and the importance of conservation. The presentation also discusses the threats facing these marine ecosystems and how conservation efforts are essential to protect them for future generations.

Coral Reefs: Rainforests of the Sea Presentation

This presentation introduces the rich biodiversity of coral reefs, known as the rainforests of the sea. Students will learn about the marine life they support, focusing on the importance of reefs in The Bahamas and the threats they face, highlighting the detrimental effects of climate change. A coral bleaching experiment will follow this presentation.

In-Class Climate Change Presentation
BREEF staff will visit classrooms to deliver an engaging presentation on climate change, focusing on the greenhouse effect and its impact on the Bahamian ecosystem. Students will learn about the threats posed by rising temperatures, with special attention to coral bleaching and its effects on marine life and biodiversity in the Bahamas. An engaging activity will follow the presentation session.

Mangrove Snorkel Field Trip to The Bonefish Pond National Park

This beautiful and immersive field trip takes students on an educational journey through The Bonefish Pond National Park, where they will explore and learn about all four species of mangroves found in The Bahamas. The adventure begins with a guided boardwalk tour, followed by an in-water snorkel experience.

Snorkel equipment is provided.

Participants will explore one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world—coral reefs. This immersive experience allows students to observe marine life up close while snorkeling at various reef sites.

Snorkel vests and gear will be provided. The exact location will be announced, as it depends on tides and weather conditions. Possible snorkel sites include Saunders Beach, Sea Beach Promenade, and the BREEF Sir Nicholas Nuttall Coral Reef Sculpture Garden at Clifton Heritage National Park.
