Stanton Studio’s stained glass classes are introductory level classes for those wanting to learn to make small, decorative projects to brighten up any room. These suncatchers are designed to teach the basics while still being fun for returning students. You will learn how to cut glass, refine the shape of glass, apply copper foil, and solder to transform sheets and pieces of stained glass into your own custom suncatcher. All the tools required will be provided, simply bring yourself! Our goal is to start from paper and a vision and end with a finished suncatcher you can take home to show your family and friends.

Classes are limited to 6 students so that instructors are able to give plenty of attention and direction to each learner. All students in each class will work on the same design, however, all students will be able to choose their own glass to make each suncatcher unique. Instructors will be available to give advice on glass selection to ensure your suncatcher looks the best that it can.

Choose your class based on either the available design or date that works best for your schedule. Designs will typically be themed with the season or holiday closest to the class date. Changes to your class date and time can be made up to the week before the class is scheduled. Spots fill up quickly, so book early!

For any other questions, information, or inquiries regarding the stained glass classes, please reach out to Stanton Studios at 254-829-1151.

Please note that rescheduling and cancelations will be permitted up to 7 days prior to your class. Please call Stanton Studios to reschedule as the scheduler may sometimes not show you the all the options available for rescheduling.

The most important information is covered at the beginning of the class and will begin promptly at the scheduled start time. Participants should attempt to arrive 10-15 minutes early, but no earlier than 15 minutes until the class is scheduled to start.

Precautions:

Classes typically take about 3 hours and require standing for longer stretches of time. Please be sure to wear closed-toed shoes to prevent small glass fragments from causing any injuries to feet. Students will also be working with lead and soldering irons, so proper safety precautions must be taken, including wearing natural fabrics to help prevent unnecessary burns. Eye protection will be available for use during classes. Students will be working with small, delicate pieces of glass which may be difficult for students with limited hand dexterity to manipulate. Glass is very sharp and can shatter or splinter in unexpected ways even if handled correctly, but we try to explain safe handling and offer tips to reduce the possibility of cuts and abrasions students may experience. These classes will expose students to hazards, but through following the instructor’s direction, students will be able to enjoy a safe learning experience.
