What is nose detection, aka, detection or nosework? It’s training a dog to a specific smell, like, anise oil or birch oil. It is a fun game that does not include any obedience, is fun, mentally engaging, and uses the dogs kibble/high value treats or a toy as a reward. Any dog, any size, any age! The puppy consult serves all things puppy. We chat about potty training, shaping of obedience, how to curb mouthiness, etc. We want to set you up for success until your pup can start formal training at five months and up. :) The puppy consult is for puppies under the age of five months. Please bring your puppies treats, a harness that fits your pup, and a flat collar that fits your puppy but can be adjusted with growth. Please carry your puppy if not fully vaccinated.

The first four lessons are:
Lesson 1: Recall/come and sit, extended sit, break. We will discuss how to address "Off" behaviors like jumping on people, counter-surfing, digging, etc. The ecollar will be layered in using our recall component and your dog learns our release command "Break". Owner will be participating hands on! Please dress accordingly. If you already use your own commands, no problem! (*As long as they are not conflicting commands like "Sit Down") Any further q

Lesson 2 is "Place", a simple solution to a lot of doggy related issues. Please reinforces impulse control even further than holding a sit. We use it while cooking dinner, cleaning the house, gardening, guests coming over, etc. "Place" is also building the dogs confidence and is used as a stabilization exercise.

The heel, one of the most complex commands that require mental stamina. Great lesson to learn and a lot of fun! Dress for the weather.
